Zur Begegnung des harten, starren Porzellans mit weicher, schmiegsamer Leinwand kommt die Spannung zwischen runder und eckiger Form hinzu. Diese Polarität setzt sich noch im Motiv fort als Gegenüber von Gegenstand und Abbild, Licht und Dunkel, heil und gebrochen, Freude und Trauer, konträren Farben, Gesellschaft und Einsamkeit.
Immer jedoch werden die Gegensätze von einem harmonischen Ganzen umgriffen, in dem sie nicht aufgehoben, wohl aber geborgen sind.
